12 Days to Get Your Online Biz Booming: Day 8

daily-activitiesOne of the huge challenges I find with my clients is that they are not taking the time necessary to build their list. A lot of them simply do not consider it as important.

List building is basic marketing and is a continual effort.  An entrepreneur needs to be building their list every day of every week of every of every month of every year. Clear enough?  We need to plan for it and then build it into our schedule so that it is certain to get done.

Why not look at your schedule right now and find pockets of time next month when you can dedicate your time to marketing?  Block them out and commit to doing it.  Time is going to be key here.

Building an online presence requires daily action with specific spurts of time blocked out. This is one of the reasons some people grow their online businesses quickly. They work at it and perfect their online marketing skills by just doing it regularly.

  4. Hi Rachel,

List building is the most important thing we can EVER do. Imagine if Facebook closed, our blog broke, or any other scenario. We will always have our list. And when we do, we need to communicate more to those on our list than any other platform.

This is the know like and trust factor we talk about when marketing. Without a list, we are nowhere. The minute someone puts up a blog, there needs to be a capture form to build a list. It can be a subscription to their newsletter, a free offer…whatever! But get one started is a must!

  5. Hi Rachel,

I started way too late to start building my list. I never realized how important it was to build one. I started building my list this year and while I am still learning how to do it efficiently, I really wish I would’ve started earlier.

However, as Donna mentioned you need to realize take into consider if your blog went down then you lose everything. I have realized that taking the time to build a relationship with the list is vital. This is what I’ve been spending a lot of time doing.

Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great day.

  6. For online marketers and bloggers, list building is the single most important thing to do. You aren’t going to get many customers, clients or sales from your blog site or Facebook page, unless you’re doing something extraordinary.

That kind of activity typically happens mostly from your “list” of prospects and subscribers.

So first, work hard to get your readers and social media friends onto your list. Then, make sure to build great value into your emails, and do it on a very consistent basis. Then, you’re on your way to creating an online business.

    Excellent advice, here, Rachel.

I am enjoying your “12 Days Series.” I have to admit, I still fall behind in building the list but that is one of my main goals for the coming year. Thank you so much for the incentive and inspiration.
