12 Days to Get Your Online Biz Booming: Day 3

light-bulb-ideaA free offer is one of the most valuable ingredients of your blog/website. When people visit your site, you want to be able to continue communicating with them so that you can nurture the relationship until they are ready to become paying clients.

The best way to capture their name is by offering a compelling gift–something of great interest and that has a perceived value to your target market. When creating your free offer, consider the needs, interests and culture of your target market. Would they be interested in a special report? An audio or video program? Do they like assessments/quizzes?

Your free offer makes a strong first impression and your potential clients will determine if they want to continue the relationship with you based upon that first impression. You want your special offer to deliver high value and leave your prospects feeling that the gift they received was worth exchanging their contact information for!

  1. When I started online, I did not know what a free offer or a marketing funnel was. Thanks for sharing this information with readers. Anita

This makes a lot of sense. I’ve seen sites where there is a free resources page where people have the ability to download a free resource in exchange for an opt-in. I’ve definitely signed-up for people’s blogs if they have a powerful free resource.

  3. Great tip Rachel!

It’s something that’s worked well for me. Video seems to be the most popular format, though it depends on your market and audience.

  4. People often forget that their site has to give some type of value, and it doesn’t always have to be specifically offered in the optin for the newsletter.

Thank you for sharing this great advice. πŸ˜€

    Hi Rachel,

It is always great practice to do this. A “free” offer needs to be there so people can opt in and see what you are all about.

I love what you are doing with the 12 days of Christmas! Brilliant.

    • Thanks Donna. Β I am having fun with the “12 Days’ theme but it is very difficult to choose which tip to share. Β Next year, I may add a poll of some sort and have a ‘winner’.

  6. People love to get information to help themselves, so it’s a great opportunity to Offer something on your blog to your audience and receive an email address to stay in touch.
People are often inquisitive to see what else you know if the like a blog post, and something for free can encourage them to pop there details into your form.
    Loving your series πŸ™‚
